Unit này giúp bạn phân biệt all, most, some, any, no + danh từ (nói chung) với all of, most of, some of, none of + the/my/these… (nói về nhóm cụ thể), và dùng chúng với đại từ.

A

all/most/some/no + danh từ: nói chung

Khi nói chung chung, đặt all, most, some, any, no ngay trước danh từ, không có of và không có the.

all / most / some / any / no + noun

  • All children need love and attention.

    Trẻ em nào cũng cần tình yêu và sự quan tâm.

  • Most people in my town ride motorbikes.

    Hầu hết người dân thị trấn tôi đi xe máy.

  • Some shops close at lunchtime.

    Một số cửa hàng đóng cửa buổi trưa.

  • No cars are allowed in the walking street.

    Không xe ô tô nào được vào phố đi bộ.

Lưu ý

Người Việt hay nói "Most of people" — sai. Nói chung: most people; nhóm cụ thể: most of the people (in my class).

… of + the/my/these + danh từ: nhóm cụ thể

Khi nói về một nhóm/thứ cụ thể, dùng all of, most of, some of, many of, much of, none of + the/this/these/my/your… + danh từ. Riêng all có thể bỏ of: all the students = all of the students.

most/some/many/none + of + the/my/these … + noun · all (of) the + noun

  • Most of my friends live in Hà Nội.

    Hầu hết bạn tôi sống ở Hà Nội.

  • Some of the photos from the trip are amazing.

    Một vài bức ảnh từ chuyến đi rất đẹp.

  • I spent all (of) my money on books.

    Tôi tiêu hết tiền vào sách.

  • None of this food is fresh.

    Chẳng món nào ở đây còn tươi.

… of + us/you/them/it

Với đại từ, bắt buộc có of: all of us, most of them, some of it, none of you. Không nói "all us". Nhưng có thể đặt all sau đại từ: We all … / They are all …

all/most/some/none + of + us/you/them/it

  • All of us enjoyed the trip to Hạ Long.

    Tất cả chúng tôi đều thích chuyến đi Hạ Long.

  • I cooked a big pot of phở, but none of it was left.

    Tôi nấu một nồi phở to nhưng chẳng còn chút nào.

  • We all agreed with the plan.

    Chúng tôi đều đồng ý với kế hoạch.

Dùng một mình và sự hòa hợp động từ

all, most, some, none có thể đứng một mình khi danh từ đã rõ. Động từ chia theo danh từ đi sau of: Most of the milk has… (không đếm được) / Most of the students have… (số nhiều). Sau none of + danh từ số nhiều có thể dùng động từ số ít hoặc số nhiều.

  • I invited ten people, but only some came.

    Tôi mời mười người nhưng chỉ vài người đến.

  • Most of the water has gone.

    Phần lớn nước đã hết.

  • None of the buses are running today.

    Hôm nay không chuyến xe buýt nào chạy.
