Noun + preposition (reason for, cause of etc.)

Danh từ + giới từ

Unit này giúp bạn nhớ giới từ đi sau các danh từ thường gặp như reason for, cause of, increase in, solution to, relationship with.

A

Danh từ + for

Một số danh từ đi với for: a reason for, a demand for, a need for, a request for. Chúng thường nói về lý do hoặc nhu cầu đối với một thứ gì đó.

reason / demand / need / request + for + danh từ

  • Is there any reason for his bad mood?

    Có lý do gì khiến anh ấy tâm trạng tệ không?

  • There is a big demand for English teachers in Việt Nam.

    Ở Việt Nam có nhu cầu lớn về giáo viên tiếng Anh.

  • There's no need for a taxi. The hotel is very close.

    Không cần taxi đâu. Khách sạn rất gần.

Lưu ý

Không nói 'the reason of'. Nhưng lưu ý: 'The reason why he left…' hoặc 'The reason that…' khi theo sau là mệnh đề.

Danh từ + of

Các danh từ như cause, advantage, disadvantage, example, photo, picture, map đi với of.

cause / advantage / disadvantage / photo / picture + of

  • Smoking is a major cause of heart disease.

    Hút thuốc là nguyên nhân chính gây bệnh tim.

  • One advantage of living in the city is the good public transport.

    Một lợi thế của sống ở thành phố là giao thông công cộng tốt.

  • Can you show me a photo of your family?

    Bạn cho mình xem ảnh gia đình bạn được không?

Lưu ý

Ta nói 'the advantage of + V-ing', nhưng cũng có 'There is an advantage in doing…' và 'an advantage to something'.

Danh từ + in (tăng, giảm, thay đổi)

Các danh từ chỉ sự thay đổi như increase, decrease, rise, fall, drop, change đi với in khi nói cái gì thay đổi.

increase / decrease / rise / fall / change + in + danh từ

  • There has been a rise in house prices in Đà Nẵng.

    Giá nhà ở Đà Nẵng đã tăng.

  • The company reported a fall in sales last year.

    Công ty báo cáo doanh số giảm năm ngoái.

  • I've noticed a big change in his attitude.

    Tôi nhận thấy thái độ của anh ấy thay đổi nhiều.

Lưu ý

Phân biệt: 'an increase in prices' (giá tăng) và 'an increase of 5%' (mức tăng 5%).

Danh từ + to / with / between

Các danh từ damage, invitation, solution, answer, key, reaction, attitude đi với to. relationship, connection, contact đi với with (hoặc between khi nói về hai bên). difference đi với between.

damage / solution / answer / invitation + to; relationship / contact + with; difference + between A and B

  • The flood caused a lot of damage to the rice fields.

    Lũ lụt gây nhiều thiệt hại cho ruộng lúa.

    Hai chiếc điện thoại này khác nhau ở điểm nào?

Lưu ý

Không nói 'damage of' hay 'solution of'. Nhớ cặp: 'damage to', 'solution to', 'key to'.
