Dùng in khi vật ở bên trong một không gian có giới hạn: phòng, hộp, túi, vườn, nước, thành phố…

in + room / box / bag / garden / water…

Dùng at khi nghĩ về vị trí như một điểm: at the door, at the bus stop, at the traffic lights, at the top/bottom (of), at the end of the street.

at + point (door / bus stop / traffic lights / top / bottom)

Dùng on khi vật nằm trên hoặc gắn vào một bề mặt: on the table, on the wall, on the floor, on the door. Dùng on the left/right để chỉ bên trái/phải.

In the corner (of a room) là góc bên trong; on/at the corner (of a street) là góc phố. In the front/back of a car là ghế trước/sau trong xe; at the front/back of a building/queue là phía trước/sau.
